Kilimanjaro National Park

Kilimanjaro National Park, located just outside Moshi town in northern Tanzania, is one of Africa’s most iconic natural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1987). Home to the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free‑standing mountain in the world, the park attracts thousands of adventurers each year seeking to conquer its snow‑capped summit or explore its rich ecological zones.

Covering 1,688 square kilometers, Kilimanjaro National Park is celebrated for its dramatic landscapes, diverse wildlife, and exceptional trekking routes. It is ranked as Tanzania’s second most visited national Park, drawing between 35,000 and 50,000 climbers annually from across the globe.

For bird lovers, the park is a true paradise, hosting over 150 bird species, including rare and endemic varieties found only in the high-altitude forests and moorlands of Kilimanjaro.

By air, the most convenient way to reach the park is by flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), located between Arusha and Moshi. or You can also connect via domestic flights from Dar es Salaam International Airport, Zanzibar Airport, Arusha Airport 

By road from Arusha town, Moshi town, Mkomazi National Park Tanzania or from Kenya via Namanga border

Choose from the most popular and scenic routes, including, Marangu Route, Machame Route, Lemosho Route, Rongai Route, Umbwe Route and Northern Circuit

The Marangu Route (5–6 days) is the shortest and easiest path up Kilimanjaro, though its fast ascent gives it a lower summit success rate. Known as the “Coca‑Cola Route,” it is the only trail that offers hut accommodation instead of tents, with gentle but less scenic trails. It’s ideal for budget climbers, beginners, and travelers who prefer the comfort of mountain huts. It is ideal for beginners and budget climbers. The Umbwe Route is the steepest and most challenging way to climb Kilimanjaro. It follows a very direct, demanding trail with limited acclimatization time, resulting in a low summit success rate. This route is suitable only for highly experienced and very fit climbers seeking a tough, fast asc

The Machame Route is one of the most popular trails, offering beautiful scenery and a strong acclimatization profile, especially on the 7‑day option. The Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border. It is quieter, drier, and more gradual than other routes, making it a good choice during the rainy season. The Shira Route begins with a drive to a high-altitude plateau, which can make acclimatization tricky for some climbers. It offers wide, open views and dramatic landscapes but is less commonly used. This route suits experienced trekkers who are already comfortable with higher elevations.

The Lemosho Route is considered one of the most beautiful and well-balanced trails on Kilimanjaro. It offers excellent acclimatization, diverse scenery, and a high summit success rate. The Northern Circuit is the longest route on Kilimanjaro and offers the highest summit success rate. It circles the mountain from west to north, providing exceptional acclimatization and quiet, remote trails. This is the best option for climbers who want the most scenic, relaxed, and successful ascent.
