THE HARBOUR OF PEACE – DAR ES SALAAM (it’s amazing)
Dar es Salaam, famously known as “The Harbour of Peace,” has transformed over the last century from a quiet Zaramo fishing village into a vibrant tropical metropolis of more than four million people. Positioned along one of the world’s most important maritime routes, Dar es Salaam is East Africa’s second‑busiest port and Tanzania’s leading commercial hub.
The city’s architecture blends African, Arab, Indian, and German influences, now rising alongside modern high‑rises and bustling coastal districts. While many travellers pass through quickly, those who take time to explore discover a relaxed coastal vibe, rich cultural diversity, and authentic Tanzanian hospitality.
